GitHub Copilot with the Niblet MCP server
Real interface references for Copilot’s agent mode and coding agent.
Copilot’s agent mode can call MCP tools while it works. Connecting Niblet means a Copilot task can look up how real apps solve the surface it is building — instead of defaulting to the average of its training data.
Set up
Register the MCP server
Copilot speaks MCP over HTTP. Add the Niblet endpoint to your user MCP configuration (VS Code, github.com, or CLI — wherever your Copilot agent runs) with your key. Use the user configuration rather than the workspace one, so the key never lands in a repository.
{ "servers": { "niblet": { "type": "http", "url": "https://niblet-api.pymodel.com/mcp", "headers": { "Authorization": "Bearer YOUR_NIBLET_KEY" } } } }Or install the free local skill
The niblet skill is free, local, and works without an account or token. It carries the reference workflow; pointing it at the MCP adds the live catalogue.
The workflow
- Issue
- Write the task with the surface’s job and states spelled out.
- Reference
- The agent calls find_ui_references before proposing a layout.
- Implement
- Copilot builds against the referenced structure in your repo’s idiom.
- PR review
- The referenced screens double as review evidence: does the build match?
See the docs for the exact MCP handshake and tool schemas.
